All these are indicators that you share the trait of High Sensitivity. It's a naturally-occurring temperament trait that's found in 20-30% of the population. If you're a Highly Sensitive Person - HSP - you don't need to be fixed or medicated, because there's nothing wrong with you. In fact, scientists are discovering that being Highly Sensitive can actually confer a distinct advantage to a person and are calling it 'Vantage Sensitivity'.
Yes, you may be struggling as a result of a brain that's wired to take in more information than others. Your highly responsive nervous system will also be triggered into fight or flight more readily, meaning you're more prone to anxiety and stress as a result. But here's the thing. Once you recognise these are normal results of the way you're physiologically built, it becomes easier to notice when you're being triggered, which means you can do something about it.
Being aware of your environments, managing your energy through self-care, learning techniques to deal with Overwhelm. These will all help you stay in your Highly Sensitive strengths, and out of the challenges.

I'm Nina Khoo and I'm a Personal Development and Master Neuro Linguistic Programming Coach. I've been coaching for over 17 years, but it was only a few years ago that I discovered I'm a Highly Sensitive Person. I went through decades of my life sensing I was different from others, but not understanding why.
Discovering I'm Highly Sensitive was like finding the missing jigsaw puzzle-piece to my life. The 'right' user manual. Everything finally made sense. I was able to put my years of studying Psychology, Neuro Linguistic Programming and multiple other modalities into a framework that explained me.
I learnt everything I could about the Highly Sensitive trait. I found resources that helped me manage the common challenges of overwhelm and perfectionism. I adapted my diet and started doing exercise that worked for me. I acknowledged that I needed to run my business differently as a Highly Sensitive Entrepreneur and learnt to be kinder to myself.
As I made changes that honoured my sensitive nature, my energy returned. I felt a strong sense of purpose and realised that I needed to share what I'd learnt with others.
My mission is to raise awareness of the Highly Sensitive Trait and share everything I've learnt so other HSPs, especially sensitive women, can fulfil their purpose and thrive. Our World is calling out for more sensitive female leaders.
